So, the situation: Cop responds to call about guy w/ history of mental illness. Cop helps guy to feet, talks to him, starts to frisk him. Guy starts attacking cop, cop pulls out baton, guy takes baton. Guy starts beating cop, cop pulls gun and shoots guy, killing him. Cop is fired for improperly handling the situation in dealing with the mentally ill person. There are racial tensions in the area (likely due to Ferguson), and the police union voted that 99% have no confidence in the chief for firing the cop. This interview is following this incident. I love that hes passionate and seems earnestly care for the community. Also, I think its a reminder that while society is definitely engineered oppress the powerless, our communities must also recognize our internalized oppression, and how we can overcome it.
