So this morning on the way to Green Bay, and again on the way - TopicsExpress

So this morning on the way to Green Bay, and again on the way home, every time I would slow up anywhere, the car would start to smell like sulfur, I had no idea what it was, but it was so bad that I opened the window after gagging a few times. It was like the worst egg smell ever. So I get home and pop the hood and there are little bubbles of acid and a lot of steam coming from my battery. I could actually hear the acid boiling inside the battery. Thinking about it exploding, I figured it best to leave it cool off a bit before messing with it. I went back out about an hour later and the thing was still too hot to touch. After talking to my mechanic, I removed it and replaced it with the battery from another vehicle. Ends up the old battery had sulfication (I think that is correct spelling, maybe not) take place and other than not taking a charge right, the boiling is something that happens. I have heard of the not taking a charge part, but never the boiling part. You learn something new every day. Just glad I did not have to replace the alternator like I thought at first.
