So to prepare myself for the new Robocop movie, which I am seeing tomorrow I watched the original one. My review now. Alex Murphys first day on the job ends up with him being killed, however he is resurrected by a powerful company, erasing his memory and he becomes ROBOCOP. The new and better police man, however when his memory starts to come back, it starts to interfere with the programming. Robocop is at the height of the 80s, some of the best time for the movies ever. The action movies were great in that time (Die Hard being my favorite action movie of all time), Robocop is stupid, ridiculous and over the top but its entertaining as hell! Peter Weller plays Alex Murphy/Robocop and hes great at playing the role. None of the other actors really stand out so I will just be talking about him here. Weller just has that personality to him that helps him fit the role as Robocop. That deep tough guy voice really helps out with the robotic sounding voice. Not only that but I also really liked how the Robocop character was made. He walks, moves and acts like a real robot! Yes he has the human origins but that doesnt mean hes not at all a human. Peter Weller kills it as Robocop and I cant imagine anyone else playing the role. By far the most fun of the movie was the action scenes. Robocop is one of the violent and graphic movies I have ever seen in my life. But its also not that bad. The action is so over the top that after a while it becomes something to laugh at! Robocop has some excellently choreographed action sequences that all action junkies would fall in love with. But the action wasnt what really stood out for me. What I really liked in the film was the fact that slowly Murphy was getting his memory back. While his family isnt a big part of the film and we only get a few flashbacks of them, it tells such a great story about his personal life. Especially the scene when hes walking through his house, remembering all of it and hes trying to deal with it all. I appreciated that one scene so much and its what stood out the most for me. So Robocop isnt without its flaws. The villains? Meh. All they are is greedy business and they just arent original and or menacing. I guess at the same where the film was released the businessman idea wasnt over used but now its just tired some. Also the film just kind of ends. I was expecting this huge shoot out with some great action and a satisfying ending, didnt do that at all. A disappoint there for me. However I did like SPOILDER ***When he gets his memory back and the man asks who he is, he says Murphy. and walks out.*** Robocop is dumb stupid fun, nothing more or less. While NOTHING like the original Die Hard, Robocop is a good time. I give Robocop an A
