So,,,today was interesting to say the least at Advance. First thing this morning,,,I ran a Flywheel over to a Transmission shop in Middletown,,,a place that has been there for many many years. I sat the heavy beast on a stand in front of the 96 Dodge truck it was ordered for. I got a sinking feeling when I saw the transmission for the Dodge sitting on the floor,,,a 4-speed Automatic. Now,,,bear this in mind,,,Read along with me here,,,A Flywheel is terminology for a vehicle with a manual transmission,,,either floor-shifted,,,or the old 3-on the trees. A Flexplate is used on AUTOMATICS,,,like the Dodge truck was. So,,,what their experienced transmission guy of 30 years ordered was a flywheel for a 1996 Dodge truck with a 318 in it. He ordered what he wanted,,,which was a Flywheel,,,not a Flexplate,,,for the Dodge truck. He got a real disgusted look on his face when he figured out the flywheel just wasnt going to work in place of that little flexplate. I told him Flexplates were for Automatics and Flywheels were for manual shift vehicles. Folks,,this is not an honest mistake,,,this so-called experienced transmission guy cost a lot of people a ton of time and money this morning from his inability to verify on the order the difference between the two. Plus,,,the amount of freight/shipping on the 80 Pound beast was up there too,,,and now it had to be sent back,,,not sure who is going to foot the bill on that one. Plus,,,and get this,,,He hollers out to me as Im leaving to Tell the idiot responsible that I need it NOW !! ... Gotta just love Louisville and dealing with its 30-years-mechanics with the Chest stuck out and the Arrogance overflowing If I was the owner of the X-mission shop,,I would have wrote the guy up this time,,,and made it VERY clear that if it ever happened again,,,he was out the door and done. No telling how much money this dumba** cost the company,,us,,,and the poor customer today. This is commonplace it seems anymore in Louisville,,,and seems to be getting much worse with shops doing uncalled for things like this. No telling what next week will bring. Ok,,,Ive said my piece,,,now the excuses from all the others can begin to say their part,,and feel sorry for the experienced so-called mechanic. If they could only own their own business for awhile and see what really goes on,,,on the Other side. Most people probably wouldnt have a clue anyways.
