So, what IS the right formula for our kids education?? As my son, Ohenenoba Brobby begins his second year at boarding school, i pray to God for more direction on his future. You see, when I first came back home from LA, 12 years now, the first thing that hit me was how high school fees in private schools had become but i figured out that if they were charging such high fees with ALL that extra curricular work, they MUST be churning out amazing scholars AND future leaders..... I saw a lot of my friends put their wards in these schools, just like I have done AND even go on and pay HIGHER fees, sending the kids to the best colleges abroad, again, like I will most likely do. Fast forward to today, 2014 and most of the kids that I saw 12 years ago are back home in Ghana, after attending the expensive schools in Ghana AND the even more expensive colleges abroad and guess what?? BACK TO MOM AND POPS BUSINESS!!!!! Now, dont get me wrong, this is good as there is nothing better than your ward joining your outfit to make it better but my million dollar, sorry, cedi question is, did we have to take them to the MOST EXPENSIVE schools, home and abroad, ONLY TO GET THEM TO GO ALONG WITH US TO WORK, in anticipation that they will find their OWN niche somewhere in there??? after ALL that money and boku homework?? if that is all they are coming back to do then cyto or its slightly higher alternative, would have sufficed, abi??? How can u take ur ward to an expensive US$ paying school, go ahead and pay MORE money for home tutors, then pay EVEN MORE money to send them to the best Colleges abroad and have them come home, as graduates mind you, but WITH NO NICHE to make money but to .........tag along YOUR business My cousin Charles, who has 5 kids, put them in a school without all the fanfare AND money and guess what, he has 3 medical doctors and 2 engineers who are now with Tullow in takoradi!! He also never had a home tutor for them as he said it wasnt necessary, as the school kept the kids till 4 each day doing revisions and working on their homework. So, i ask again, besides Gods intervention, what IS the right formula for our kids education????
