~Soap Box Time~ I debated whether or not to write this. Maybe because it hits too close to home and feels too personal but Im sharing because it is important. Sharing is caring right? Today at school, I ate lunch with Noah like I do every Friday after I volunteer. Last week, I noticed this tiny wisp of a frame girl with big glasses and I swear could be the real life Junie B, Jones. Sweet and little awkward but lovable like all children. Seems she was by herself. She sat next to the boys and last Friday. I found out why today. I saw her walking to the table. Two very well dressed little girls spotted her walking over and spread out to prevent her from sitting on their side or the other side of the table. She didnt say anything, held her head high and looked to try seat otherwise out of their, territory. I quickly told the young, Junie B. to sit with us. She was very happy to have a escape from her little misfit moment. After a bit, I told her, Next time, just sit where you want. Sometimes other kids dont realize what they are doing might make other people feel bad. She looked at me, in disbelief like I had read her mind. She said to me, How did you know? I told her I saw it, and gave her big smile. Now I know this is getting long for a Facebook post but Im about to get, Real. When I was little girl, I moved around a lot. Every school I was the outsider. Fighting hard to make friends and try to mantain some sense or respect with the other students in my class. Sadly the worst I was every treated was at a Christian school. Growing up, I will never forget being the outcast. Being treated so can make you malicious or some depressed. (I was get even) What I noticed growing up, the ones who pick on others are not always the typical bullies they paint in school litarure. At least not with girls. Girls click together, the more popular the more evil they become if they are not taught to have a soft heart toward others. Why am telling this? Because we as parents recreate this over and over. Whether it be from bulling at home or maybe a child who is so self-absorbed that they cannot see pain in another humans eyes. It is our job as parents to stop peer bulling. Kindness is learned just like, reading writing and arithmetic... So to my new lunch buddy on Friday, I write this in honor of you. #stopbulling #bulling #peerpressure #goodwill
