Social Services, residential care, special needs units and - TopicsExpress

Social Services, residential care, special needs units and psychiatry have been all but removed in Bexley. Govt cannot expect voluntary sector to do what the public sector did without paying. Psychiatry has a waiting List of more than 3 months and a PET scan can take years. When I still had money I spent 3000 on private sector urgent treatment of psychosis. I now have no spare income so will have to hope things remain stable but those who become psychotic and cannot pay BMI or BUPA will suffer. Some end up in prisons which the Prison Service have already publicised. MPs and voting are irrelevant. No-one outside the few controlling our economy will be able to stop the decay of the welfare state. The transition over the next decade will leave more than half of UK unemployed and services minimised. It is hard to see a way out. Media coverage is some help but gov is very good at appearing to be responding whilst surreptitiously making cuts in areas of care affecting those with special needs. I think this is a conscious policy since those infirm in body or mind are least able to protest. Contracting out has always been a spectacular failure. Change will only come about when rebellion is on a large enough scale and targets those who really make the decisions so that they will pressure govt to appease the protesters if their business is suffering through civil disobedience.
