Society has many failings, but it should not be put right by removing children from the family home in the lesser issues. Two produce a child and if society has failed those parents, regarding lack of parenting technique as an example then society can not expect a parent to be hauled in front of a judge. Only severe harm should give need to intervene in a family unit. Social Workers can not be expected to handle cases that require community professionals close to the family to put right. It is also not satisfactory to have meeting after meeting and assessments for the social worker to engage with the family. A family is either dysfunctional and/or harming the child. Facts not probabilities to harm. If Sir Keir Starmer wants to make a social change for the sake of all childrens upbringing, then ask the Government to produce a booklet guide to be given to all new, existing, expecting and visiting parents in this Country. State what is expected of a parent, what local assistance (other than a social worker) is available to them, what financial help they may get and what the state will do in procedural format if things go pear shaped in the family home. Until we alert ALL parents of expectations, the system is no doubt wrongful in taking a parent to Court, until a parent is fully equipped with the tools to parent, children will not benefit from proper family help. Social workers are bogged down with loose ends and more cases, so look at stripping back the need for a social worker, and ensuring severe harm and actual factual information is taken to the court room. If a social worker is supposed to be a friendly supportive character to the family unit - as children do have birth mums and dads that they want to stay with, then why do all parents live in fear of social workers? not very approachable are they and I dont mean the parents.
