Someone over at Horror Film Nerds (wonderful group) asked for some - TopicsExpress

Someone over at Horror Film Nerds (wonderful group) asked for some body horror film recommendations. Below is my response - would anyone like to add some titles? It might be kind of cool to see if we can collectively compile a fairly comprehensive list of sorts. Most horror films contain some form or derivative of terrorizing, mutating or traumatizing the flesh, but to what depth of degree or intensity do we consider a film to be sub-categorized as body horror. Interesting question - I am curious of the results. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78), Body Parts, Altered States, Bug (06), Antiviral, Re-Animator, Human Centipede, Thanatomorphose, Splinter, The Thing (82), Pieces, The Invasion, Hellraiser (1 & 2), Perfume - The Story of a Murderer, Marianne (11), The Stendhal Syndrome, Antichrist (09), Cabin Fever, Repo Men (10), The Beast Within, Motel Hell, Jacobs Ladder, Black Swan, Saw (1 - 7), The Illustrated Man, The Exorcist, Thinner, Beyond the Door, The Hands of Orlac, Hannibal (series), The Hand, Boxing Helena, Evil Dead, Audition, The Ruins (08), Guinea Pig 2, August Undergrounds MORDUM, Cannibal Holocaust, 127 Hours, Slither, Taxidermia, REPO: A Genetic Opera, most of the Cronenberg library, and perhaps the greatest of all time - Frankenstein (1931).
