Someone sent me a private message asking - Kwani you work for the Standard media services ? Lol My reply: No i don´t it just happens to be the only channel that tries to report "issues" objectively and without much bias even if its biggest shareholder is Moi. Thus it becomes easier than many of the other news media houses that are engaged in trying to show which flag they are supporting or flying in the political arena. Kenya´s media is not free and none of the media houses report "news" that is of benefit to Kenyans. They have been for a long time the mouth pieces of various vested interests in and outside the country be they business or political. Sometimes going to the extreme of siding with the issues they should be reporting about in a non-partisan and objective manner. Opinion in Kenya cannot consist of only govt sanctioned propaganda and egositic feel-good press releases that try to point a rosy picture of a govt thats lost control and is many times driving at high speed without any breaks. Thats where we on social media step in. To give another side to issues and viewpoints. Dont let your judgement be clouded by what you read on- or offline. Be critical in all you do. Dont take anything for granted.
