Something I did not say yet. The reason Im reaching out for assistance in more detail. So after a work related injury, workers compensation picks you up and attempts to fix you. In a perfect world, your employer backs your healing process and welcomes you back into the fold once the doctors so ok. In my case, I was injured and put on light duty. It stayed that way for about 2 months. During that time I did whatever I could do with one hand while doctors figured out what was going on. Not sure what made the employer choose to, but they soon decided to let me go. The only thing they could tell me was that I was a liability. About two weeks after being let go, I was scheduled for surgery and had my hand operated on. At that time the doctors had said I should not return to work. Thats when workers comp picked up my bills or attempted to. They only pay out 66% of your wages. In my case that was 66% of minimum wage. I manage to survive on the meager amount with no outside assistance. I did that with the hopes the doctors would eventually come up with a fix for my hand. So after 2 long years since the initial injury, Im left with a broken hand. Or as the Doctors said, a permanent nerve disability or possibly something worse. The something worse could be something called Reflex Sympathetic Disorder. Sadly there is no definitive test for this. https://health.ny.gov/diseases/chronic/reflex_sympathetic/ Once the doctors have fixed you or made you as best as they could, workers comp is done with you. At that point your supposed to return to your job. Sadly mine is gone and I do not have the ability currently to do the work I have done in the past. There are programs that can help me but they take time to process and get approval for. Given time, retraining, peoples help, and a little luck; Ill be a semi productive part of the work force again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
