Something thats bothered me since the day I became a mum. Girls being labeled Tom boys or girly girls, it drives me nuts. Why on earth cant a little girl love ballet, superheroes, playing house, science experiments, playing in mud, and dressing like a princess for days at a time. Why cant she wear a tutu while playing baseball. Why cant she enjoy the barbie aisle and the hot wheels aisle in a store? Why does she have to be a Tom boy because she loves working with tools? Why does she have to be a girly girl because she likes to play with makeup? Why is this so confusing for people? Maybe if we just let our ladies do whatever they like however they like and quit avoiding Disney princesses because theyre too girly or affectionately calling them Tom boys because they like to rough and tumble, then we may actually end up with some gloriously well rounded grown women who have a better vision for their lives and stronger sense of identity.
