Sometimes it can be all too much. It shouldnt be that way with training. Most of us are doing it for general health and fitness and shouldnt take it too seriously. It should be fun for the most part so make it so! Do you fear your workout? Is that fear keeping you from training? Turning up each day to train knowing that the workout is going to hurt can be too great for some of us. So great in fact that we dont turn up. Often we dont turn up the next day either and then before we know it we havent trained in a week or even longer. That fear has now grown and getting back to training is now so daunting that some of us give up altogether! Giving up should not be an option! First and foremost our training has to be enjoyed. Some of us enjoy the hurt for the elation we feel after a hard session. We like to go to that special place, and fear or no fear we always keep coming back for more. However, if that fear is keeping you from training then you need to find a way to lose that feeling and get yourself back in the gym. I want you to enjoy your training. I want to see you at training often. Therefore I think its important that you know a few things that you may not know, and in knowing them I hope you can set the fear free and show up to training when you normally wouldnt. So here we go. Its ok to scale your workouts. Go light, do less reps, go slower, just focus on moving really well. Scale the hell out of it if its the difference between training or not training! There is no pressure and you shouldnt feel any. Ask me to keep your score off the whiteboard if you feel you will have to justify it. Which you dont ever have to do by the way. Its ok if your 100% on a bad day looks like your 50% from a good day. Just give what you can. Stay inside your comfort zone if thats what you want. As long as youre at training youre winning. Its ok if you dont PR and arent interested in progress. If all you want to do is get hot and sweaty then thats fine with me. As long as youre at training youre winning. There is no pressure for you to perform with animal ferocity on a daily basis. Its just a workout. Tell yourself that if it helps because thats all it really is. Whatever it takes. There is no need to be scared of training if its going to hold you back. Let me know how I can put you at ease and I will help any way that I can. Its just a workout after all.
