Sorry I havent been on lately. Ive been working a lot. Not much going on here at the homestead lately. The new coop isnt quite finished yet. We arent getting any eggs at the moment out of over 10 girls. 1/2 are just getting over a molt and the other 1/2 hadnt started laying before the deep dark nights set in. I have 13 roosters still. 11 of which need to go to freezer camp but are waiting until I have time. And yes almost all of them are separate from the hens. I did manage to find a wonderful home for two roosters and two Toms not very long ago. They are being housed with a female guinea. Im interested in trying to get some eggs for hatching in the spring. I just got offered the use of a bee hive from a generous neighbor today and am looking forward to that new adventure. I could use a mentor. Failing that let me know of any classes you hear about come spring. Cant wait for seed catalogs to finish coming in so I can finish dreaming for spring. I hope winter is being kind to you all. Please share whats happening on your own homesteads. This is really the time of year most of us can use help and advice with.
