Sorry about yesterdays post....I was not very well at all, but needed/wanted to have something for you!!!! Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But He answered and said, It is written Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give HIs angels charge over you, and In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone, Jesus said to him, It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God. Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. Matthew 4:1-11 JESUS RESPONSE TO ALL THREE TEMPTATIONS WAS TO QUOTE THE WORD OF GOD. This shows THE POWER OF SCRIPTURE IN BATTLING ANY AND EVERY ATTACK FROM ANY DEMON....PAIN, SUFFERING, SICKNESS, DISEASE....LACK, FINANCES, DEATH!! WITH HIS POWER GOD IS IN CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!! There was nothing morally wrong with turning stones to bread....satan was tempting Jesus to do a miracle outside of His Fathers will. Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3. Bread alone does not sustain life..GOD IS THE ONE WHO SUSTAINS ALL LIFE. In quoting the protective promise of Psalm 91:11, 12 to Jesus, satan omitted the words to keep you in all your ways. satan was tempting Jesus to gain public attention through spectacle rather than through His righteous life and message. Deuteronomy 6:16 tells us that we should not test God. Of course, the Lord asked the Israelites to put Him to the test in one area tithing. By giving to Him, they could test whether He would fulfill His promises to bless them (Malachi 3:10). Christ rebuked the devil for asking for worship - - - a temptation to do exactly the opposite of what every Israelite was called upon to do (see Deut 6:13, 15). SPECIFICALLY IN REFERENCE TO JESUS....SATAN WAS OFFERING A CROWN WITHOUT THE CROSS. JESUS EXPERIENCE SERVES AS A PATTERN IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE TODAY!!!! JESUS RESISTED SATAN (see EPH 6:11, 13, 14; JAMES 4:7; 1 PETER 5:9), THEN, HE DEFEATED SATAN WITH CONSISTENT, POWERFUL, MEANINGFUL USE OF SCRIPTURE (see EPH 6:17). ANGELS CAME AND MINISTERED TO HIM....v 11. ANGELS CAN MINISTER TO YOU....THANK GOD FOR THE ANGELS - ONE OF THEM SAVED MY SON WHO WAS STUCK HALFWAY DOWN A CLIFF - I WAS AT THE TOP ....HE PICKED UP MY SON AND WALKED UP THE CLIFF WITH HIM AND BROUGHT HIM TO ME - I HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES. MY SON WAS FOURTEEN - THAT WAS A FEW YEARS AGO. SORRY, I AM GOING OFF ON A TANGENT - I WAS SCREAMING TO GOD AT THAT TIME, AND THE ANGEL IMMEDIATELY APPEARED. MY SON COULD HAVE FALLEN THE REST OF THE WAY DOWN THE CLIFF AND DIED. JESUS WAS MY ONLY THOUGHT....YES, WE HAVE ANGELS, AND CAN SEND THEM OUT, BUT - I WAS SCREAMING TO GOD....MY FIRST-BORN SON ...COULD NOT GET HURT, OR DIE!!!! I AM DOING IT AGAIN, AND I AM SORRY....JUST KNOW THAT - - - GOD TAKES CARE OF US!!!! I HOPE I DID NOT RUIN THIS BY PUTTING A PART OF MY LIFE, BUT I AM A REAL PERSON ALSO....PERHAPS SOMEONE CAN GET SOMETHING FROM THAT. WE CAN SEND OUR ANGELS OUT ON ASSIGNMENT, BUT - SCREAMING TO GOD WAS MY FOCUS AT THAT TIME!!!! I UNDERSTAND ....WE ARE TOLD IN ISAIAH THAT WHEN CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED CALLING/SCREAMING TO HIS FATHER ....THAT GOD TURNED AWAY FROM HIS SON AT THAT MOMENT. THIS IS TAKING A DIFFERENT TURN, BUT - WE CANNOT TURN FROM THE SPIRIT!! NO MATTER WHAT SITUATION YOU ARE FACING - GOD KNOWS!! THE DEVIL CANNOT TOUCH ANY OF US WITHOUT ASKING GODS PERMISSIOIN FIRST....AND GOD WILL ALLOW UP TO A CERTAIN POINT!!!! UP TO A CERTAIN POINT!!!! REMEMBER ABRAHAM....ABRAHAM WAS FAITHFUL - TO THE POINT OF SACRIFICING HIS OWN SON. GOD IS LOVE....WE ARE ALL HIS FAVORITES, AND HE DOES NOT WANT ANY HARM TO COME TO ANY OF US - HE JUST WANTS TO SEE HOW TRUE TO HIM WE WIILL BE!! REMEMBER THE RAM IN THE THICKET.... GOD WILL ALWAYS MAKE A WAY!!!!
