Sorry its so late ...... Pock 3rds vs Tadcaster Monday 25th August Young players show great spirit with some top performances It was a difficult game and not only due to the weather but the team almost overcame both the elements and other factors in a very tight game. Batting first Pock were soon in trouble at 15-2 with both openers going cheaply. George Baty hit exactly 50 (his first I believe) and Jack Watson 63 not out (also his first 50 I think) as they put on a stand of 95 with George setting the initial pace. Jack continued steadily as several batsmen came and went quickly until Michael Longster with a quick 20 helped add 54 for the 7th wicket and the innings closed on 184-7. A very good effort considering the conditions. The Tadcaster reply started slowly and they were 44-3 after 13 overs. F Burton(64) and C Marr 49) then put on a large partnership as Pocks bowlers struggled with a very slippery ball. Man of the Match Jack Watson almost turned it round with an excellent spell of 4-28 from 7 overs but a couple of dropped catches meant that Tad were able to inch home by 1 wicket with a few balls to spare. Not a game to remember fondly for a number of reasons but all the young players showed great spirit and commendable restraint at times and the two top performances from George and Jack deserve recognition.
