Splendid documentary, but also grueling to see the glorious but pathetic remnants of Callass instrument. The talent is intact, her regal and elegant presence is radiant, but the voice is mostly gone. It has deteriorated to the point of having two and a half distinct voices: one at the bottom, one in the middle and just half of a Falcon tessitura at the top. Technical problems, health problems and psychological disorders have taken her toll. Also, far too heavy roles at the beginning of her career are the PROFOUND reason for her decline. Singing FIDELIO, TIEFLAND, TURANDOT, GIOCONDA, KUNDRY at a very early stage despite all undisputed talent, is a killer. Callas should have kept re-training her voice and she would have become an interesting dramatic mezzo-soprano. In fact her career lasted satisfactorily from 1947 until 1956-1957.
