Sponsors, parents, teams, coaches, mentors and volunteers – Girls on the Run CANNOT celebrate the progress made and look forward to a more equal world for our girls and then create and implement a policy to CUT girls from this program. Elementary School girls being eliminated by mentors, teachers, school nurses and volunteers is particularly harmful. Girls on the Run envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams, unless she gets CUT this fall. The new policy for this youth development program is detrimental to each girl, eliminating some and leaving the remainder members of an exclusive club. Please contact our Capital Area Girls on the Run request they create an inclusive policy that reflects their mission statement and goals and immediately rescind your directive for Teams to be limited to 15 girls selected using a lottery system. Time is of the essence of course, as girls are waiting to be disappointed, excluded, and disqualified from their Teams by their Coaches.
