Srinivas playing one of my favorite Ragas. His use of legato to achieve vocalizations is so beautifully exploited by the mandolins short scale length. U sriivas instinctively understood this advantage over other fretted instruments. Duplicating these Gamakas on a guitar requires extreme movements on the neck, and the register of the mandolin has a tone very pleasing to the ear. U Stinivas utilized a Sa PA Sa Pa tuning C G C G enabling single fingered octaves which he also deployed in a unique manner to add depth to the sound during critical phrases. Truly a natural genius of music.
