St. Francis Catholic High School, Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure, and March of Dimes North Central Florida Partner with Communities for Cause to Benefit Local Merchants and Non-Profits in the Community Innovative mobile app ties local non-profits with merchants to help with fundraising, fueling the local economy Gainesville, Florida., October 29, 2013 — St. Francis Catholic High School, Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure and March of Dimes North Central Florida recently announced they are partnering with Communities for Cause, Inc. (CFC), an innovative mobile application that helps Gainesville schools and other non-profit groups in the area with their fundraising by connecting them with local merchants willing to donate a percentage of any purchase back to those groups signed up to be a part of this exciting new application. Using a smart phone, shoppers select their preferred non-profit, search for merchants by category or location and then make their purchase. CFC records the transaction and then gives that percentage back to the shopper’s designated school, group or organization. Participating merchants create consumer loyalty by donating to the preferred non-profit every time a purchase is made. CFC initially launched in Orange County, Calif. where it has a growing network of more than 180 schools / nonprofits and 600 local businesses that have agreed to offer a percentage donation ranging from 10% to 20% on every sale they make to a CFC consumer. “I truly believe this program to be a great supplement to our organization’s fundraising,” said Sabrina Harris, advancement director at St. Francis Catholic High School. “For us, this partnership creates a recurring source of fundraising and makes it easy for our supporters, who are enriching our school with purchases they would be making anyway.” “It’s important to know that over 90 percent of the funds raised by Tyler’s Hope go directly into research to cure Dystonia,” said Jacob Wychulis, development coordinator for Tyler’s Hope. “We are excited to team up with Communities for Cause and are looking forward to the impact that they will bring to helping cure this Disorder.” “The money raised by the Communities for Cause program will go to support vital research, education and advocacy efforts to ensure that all babies have a healthy start,” said Betsy Trent, executive director, March of Dimes North Central Florida Division. The initial group of restaurants and merchants promoting the partnership consists of Beef O’ Brady’s on Archer Road, Texas Roadhouse, Gator’s Dockside, Napolatono’s, and Wahoo Seafood Grill and is expanding weekly. “This is an innovative way for us to generate business while giving back to our community,” said Greg Jasinski, managing partner for Texas Roadhouse. “We are exposed to a wider range of loyal customers and our community schools and non-profits benefit from donations on sales made. It’s a great way to connect with new customers.” “Napolatano’s is thrilled to be working with Communities for Cause,” explained Ginger Nappy, vice president for Napolatono’s. “This will be a great way for all nonprofits to benefit and partner with local businesses, and a fun and easy way for them to fundraise.” “Gator’s Dockside is very excited to support Communities for Cause,” said Jerry Roberts, owner of Gator’s Dockside. “Being a part of this program will allow our customers and Gator’s Dockside to give back even more to the local community through a simple and organized electronic system.” “Communities for Cause is really bridging the gap between our local schools and non-profits,” said Daniel McCann, of Beef O’ Brady’s. “It’s a win-win for both us and the various causes since it is driving in more customers and helping out some very worthy causes.” Shawn Shepherd of Wahoo Seafood Grill agrees. “We are happy to be partnering with a company that is driving new customers to us while benefitting the non-profits in our local community.” To kick off each restaurant’s participation with Communities for Cause, each restaurant is inviting all participating schools and non-profits to take advantage of an even greater donation amount on the following nights: • Wahoo Seafood Grill: Tuesday, November 5th from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. • Texas Roadhouse (Archer Road): Thursday, November 7th from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. • Napolatano’s: Monday, November 11th from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. • Gator’s Dockside: Wednesday, November 20th from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. • Beef O’ Brady’s (Archer Road): Thursday, November 21st from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Families interested in participating can simply download the CFC app to their smartphones, select their school or non-profit as the beneficiary, and show the app when they dine or shop at a participating merchant. Communities for Cause connects local businesses with schools (and other charitable organizations) and their parent/member body to raise funds for their cause. Schools/organizations share a greater connection with local merchants who value the marketing exposure and donate a greater share of sales towards the cause (the average is between 10-20% of each sale, varying across categories). They empower customers to support their causes using mobile technology that makes it easy for them to donate in the normal course of their daily lives – no planning-ahead and no gift cards required. Each cause receives a donation less a small transaction fee paid to Communities for Cause for processing the transaction – it’s that simple. For more information, visit communitiesforcause.
