“Stand Up”, Says the Lord. The Lord gave to me a dream that I would like to share with you. I was standing along with others at the foot of a mountain. We noticed a gigantic snow drift at its peak. All at once, a large buck ran toward the drift, and we began to hear a rumble. All at once, the drift became an avalanche rushing towards us. Death and destruction appeared to be the eminent. I saw a metal rack, similar to those that hold up bicycles. I ran and crouched beneath it. Soon the snow had covered me and the other people. I fell to my knees in the shivering cold, wondering if I would ever be found. I whispered “Jesus” over and over. All at once, I sensed the urge, “Stand up.” “Stand up”? How could I stand up in the weight of the snow? I began to lift myself, pushing upward with my feet and hands. All at once, I was standing with the snow up to my waist. I was alive. I was free. The snow had no hold on me. I began to yell through the snow to the others, “Stand up. Stand up. Stand up.” Soon I saw others standing up through the snow. How many of us have been hit with an avalanche of trouble? It appears that there is no way of escape. Death and destruction appears as the eminent. We crouch beneath it in fear and in hopelessness and wonder, "Will I be delivered? Is this my impending doom?" Well, the Lord says, “Stand up.” Do you know that you cannot stand if you think you can’t. Proverbs, 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” We, the children of God, have been given the victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:57). We are called by Jesus to “know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Your avalanche may be a truth but it is not the ultimate Truth. Truth (Jesus) says, “I have come to you to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance of the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” (Lk. 4:18). “In this freedom, Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off]” at your new birth (Gal. 5:1). “Stand up”, says the Lord, “You have been made free.” Have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July.
