Starting at the Boston Common and winding through Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge, 43,000 people from across Massachusetts came together as a community today to raise awareness of the issue of hunger in the community and funds to support statewide anti-hunger work at Project Bread - The Walk for Hunger. Initial estimates indicate the event will reach its goal of raising $3.5 million. Money raised at today’s Walk will help support local food pantries, community-based meal programs, early childhood and school nutrition initiatives, and improved access to farm-to-table resources.
