State police have made a second arrest in the Village of Bath in connection to a child abuse investigation last week. Michelle M. Campbell, 24, of Bath, Steuben County, allegedly gave a toddler third-degree burns with a lit cigarette and by holding the childs arm against a hot oven, according to Senior Investigator Curt Eaton. Campbell has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault, a felony, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned in the Village of Bath Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Stephen M. Hoose, 33, of Bath, Steuben County, was arrested last week for allegedly throwing the same child into a chair, which resulted in a fractured skull and retinal hemorrhaging, Eaton said. He is facing charges of reckless assault of a child, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Campbell and Hoose are slated to reappear in court on Mondayat 3 p.m. Police said the case is still under investigation.
