Stealing From The Death: The Yakowa/Yaradua Phenomenon. “Dont blame Yero for insecurity in Kaduna State. He inherited the insecurity from late Patrick Yakowa whose government was full of genocides, bombings, attacks and counter-attacks. I think thats the mother of insecurity we are facing in Kaduna state today.” - Muhammad Nasiruddeen Ibrahim on KADUNA DREAMS three days ago exonerating the government of Yero of the genocidal massacres against the good people of Sanga Local Government of Kaduna state. On another note; some two days earlier, I was listening to Sam Ndah Isaiah on Liberty radio guest of the week. Ndah picked on the government of Jonathan as the acerbic critic of government he always is. He questioned the use of state tools to harass and intimidate opposition both perceived and imagined by the president. Ndah kept saying that Nigeria is a failed state; but when he was told Jonathan inherited corruption, insecurity and other madness that make Nigeria a failed state as he was suggesting; he said Jonathan is the number one man. That if he cannot steer the country, he should steer clear. GGCMs Resolution Now, if we are to exonerate Yero with respect to Kaduna insecurity in the south of the state, should Goodluck not be exonerated too with respect to national insecurity in the north of the country? If Yeros incapacity in tackling insecurity in the south of the state could be blamed on his late predecessor, Yakowa; should we not also blame the late Yaradua on our national insecurity? While it is convenient for folks like Nasiruddeen to try to exonerate Yero with respect to Kaduna Massacres, they will outrightly shy away at the idea of exonerating Jonathan with respect to national securities. I wish those political dogs that come in to bark fiercely in defence of a governments failure on the alter of search for favour, will do same if their direct family members were a part of the massacred. We should be more responsible in our desperation to defend a government that has failed to live up to her responsibilities. The Twists Bokoharam started during Yaradua just like Maitatsine was there during Sardauna and became deadly during Shehu Shagari. Sardauna, Shehu Shagari, Yaradua and Maitatsine were all from the caliphate and not the South South. Corruption in Nigeria was legalised during IBB, but was initiated during the second republic under Shagari. It was the unbearable corruption of the second republic that led General Mohammedu Buhari to overthrow that government. Under different Muslim military government, unsuspecting Christians were attacked and killed by their once friendly Muslim neighbours over provocations from far off Nigeria over the decades. Insecurity, corruption, insurgency were not new to Nigeria and certainly not a creation of Jonathans Government. This is not to excuse Jonathan. No, never. Jonathan excuse comes from the utterances of persons who pledged to make Nigeria ungovernable after the PDP presidential primaries. While the Yaradua government enjoyed full National support irrespective of tribe or religion, the Jonathan government is suffering from religious sentiments and regional sabotage. I shared Ndahs submission that Jonathan is the number one man. That if he cannot steer the country, he should steer clear; but my reservation is the lack of support his government is suffering from Northerners. If Jonathan had enjoyed northern support and fail, I would have completely been at par with Ndah who kept saying Nigeria is a failed state under Jonathan. No one is doubting that Nigeria has failed woefully with respect to security, courtesy those who promised to make it ungovernable. The elements that make Nigeria a failed state were conspicuously by-passed by Mr Ndah. Ndah indeed played the ostrich in favour of the opposition. Yes, Mr president might be behaving badly from Ndahs angle. Though I like it that Ndah recognised the fact that Jonathan too is entitled to contest. Ndah agreed that Jonathan would be easily defeated at the poles. What I dont understand is why northerners are shit scared of Jonathan contesting again. What are they afraid of? Why so much fear for the boogie man? Where is the democracy if some are denied a chance to fail? I believe we have a million reasons not to vote for Jonathan. Coming back to Kaduna State, you will see how the late Yakowa met full opposition from both zones one and two senatorial districts. Even some folks from Yakowas zone three opposed Yakowa too. How then can Nasiruddeen conveniently posit that Yero inherited insecurity from Yakowa? Who were the victims of bomb blast in Kaduna during Yakowa? Yakowas People. A southern Kaduna reporter was locked up during Yakowa, even though the reporter; reported a massacre in Yakowas own cradle. You put your two and two together and tell me what you got from the above. The massive opposition Yakowa suffered to his death can best be ascertained by the jubilation that greeted his demise from zones one and two and some negligible few in zone three. Now, during swearing in of Yakowa, his political godfathers in the state sternly warned him not to make Kaduna a Christian state before the full glare of the world. Yakowa balanced his political appointments between the two religious adherents in the state, but Yero it was who came and make Kaduna a Muslim state by replacing Christians with Muslims in strategic government positions in the name of reward for loyalty. Now, when I read comments like the one posited by Nasiruddeen, I normally dont care to reply, because such comments are simply insensitive and calculated mischief to unscrupulously steal from the death. It is clear this Nasiruddeen is simply mischievous or completely ignorant. I will like him more for the former than the later for obvious reasons. While the late Yaradua died a natural death, Yakowas death is to date enshrouded in darkness with an underground colouration of assassination from the agitation during his reign that eventually culminated into full blown and open celebrations during his demise to the chagrin of his kinsmen who falsely believed that Arewa was one people as advanced by the great Sardauna. Today, the Yero tazarce Fever has led some phoney folks (like this Nasiruddeen dude) into employing bleaching cream (made from bastardising late Yakowas legacy) to bleach an otherwise black Yero into a yellow guy. The legend Fela will say who say you fine? Na lie you no fine at all at all. His face might come clean, but not his a** It is still there to be viewed by deep thinkers. Yes, while a part(Southern Kaduna) of Kaduna is still boiling and people are dying, Yero was not only receiving phoney peace awards; but was also excusing apprehended terrorists as hunters, molesting the bereaved some more by a combine force of intimidation, use of force, insensitive PDP campaigns in zone three when folks are still displaced and mourning their deaths, etc. Now Mallam Nasiruddeen should not use the death (Yakowa) to clean the defecation of the living (Yero) because we can still see from whence the whole mess bedeviling Kaduna state is proceeding from. Urge Yero to pick the dirts dropped and clear the mess made pronto. GGCM Has Spoken
