Steve David made this post to the H1 Unlimited Facebook page after the Seafair Final Heat. Seems like a reasonable solution. What do you think? When you know there will be questions by your fans about the call, like the start of the final, why not post all of your video evidence immediately. Further, when KIRO or KNDU or whoever is filming the race live, make certain you have an official available to them so every call is instant for the TV fans. Seems a simple fix, and it would alleviate much of the anger over the conflict between the TV start and the referees start line camera? Taking the time to make the right decision is fine, just let the viewers know what youre doing. It is the indecision that leads to speculation, and ultimately anger. Its now over 2 hours since the final. Footage of the start line and the encroachment, if any should be posted. People might still be angered with the call, but at least the evidence is there. You have a fine chief referee in Brian, put him on post race video to explain the calls. The human element, backed by photo or video, will help rebuild confidence in your organization.
