Studies show that bullying victims are 9 times more likely to commit suicide then non victims. We see it everyday all around us, we see it at school, at home and online. I have people say to me that girl is a filthy slut I hope she kills herself How do those words even escape your mouth without the slightest bit of compassion. How do wish self inflicted death upon another human? Like yourself, like myself And when I say this to people they say Oh no you dont understand she really is a slut No you dont understand shes an attention seeker No you dont understand I hate her No I dont understand, I dont understand how someone elses choices effect you so much that you wish death upon them. That girl who cuts for attention she needs that attention cause maybe she likes attention somewhere else in her life. These problems are more physiological then youre giving them credit for. These problems arent just for attention, they need this attention, they need this help. People dont always cut to kill themselves. People cut to relieve emotional pain. The brain releases pain relieving endorphins. The cuts may not be deep but the pain is real. If someone is pushed so far to put a blade to there skin, it is real and bullying is real. How many scars are we going to leave until we stop slut shaming, till we stop body shaming, till we stop shaming people for illnesses they have control over; anxiety, depression and eating disorders. How many people are we going to let die because they felt like they had no other option. Why arent we standing up and doing something. Why do schools allow people to fight and torment each other. Why do social media still allow people to anonymously bully someone to the point where they feel like they have no self worth. Why dont we have a voice Its time to stand up and change things cause I know were not there yet.
