Sunday evening, Karl Lawrence Cab 2006 (RIP winery) and Turley Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah 2004. Its a shame Karl Lawrence Winery ceased to exist, maybe too many projects for the Co-Owner Mark Trujillo (Sequoia Grove, Herb Lamb, among others). In 2006 we played Bocce with partner Ric Henry in a Howell Mt. vineyard that they had just recently purchased and planted (saw Randy Dunn passing by), but it appears that something unforeseen happened between them. Its a mystery for me. Held the Turley in our locker for eight years, and the wait was well compensated by a well balanced, tamed and elegant PS, sourced from one of the best Zinfandel and PS land lots, Hayne Vineyards. Carlisle is now producing a Hayne Vineyard Zin, holding various bottles to taste in a couple of years.
