Sunkoshi river damming by mammoth landslide at Mankha VDC, Sindhupalchowk is an event of unprecedented scale. Nepalese and Swiss geotechnical experts had designated the Sunkoshi-Bhotekoshi water catchment as one of the most hazardous basins back in 1990s. Here are the snapshots of the mapping efforts made from my record in the area of present problem which is encircled by red line in each of the Engineering Geological Map, Land Use Map, Hazard Map and Orthophoto Map, all developed in 1:10,000 scale under a Swiss-Nepal cooperation project HMWA.
