Navratri starts just after the New Moon of Mahalaya, on Oct 5th, 2013 IST and ends on Oct 13th, IST. Vijaya Dasami falls on Oct 14th, IST (full integration on 10th day). This nine-day window is dedicated to removing evil characteristics like jealousy, greed, ignorance, anger, hatred, violence, etc. inside and outside of us.
