Superintendent Brian Maher sent out the following message to KPS - TopicsExpress

Superintendent Brian Maher sent out the following message to KPS staff this morning regarding tomorrows weather: My purpose in writing to you this morning is to give you my thoughts on the cold snap that we are experiencing today and tomorrow. First let me be clear - unless the forecast changes, we will have school tomorrow as scheduled. As you most likely know, the forecast calls for bitter cold. The most worrisome part of the day is the time that kids would be exposed to the elements, specifically, coming to school in the morning and leaving school in the afternoon. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cold temperatures and windy conditions. The predicted wind chill tomorrow morning looks to be as low as -25. That makes me nervous. You may recall last year that I said I will use a wind chill of -30 as a line of demarcation for closing school. I will again use that wind chill as a bright line for having school - or not having school this year. So, it appears as though we will have school tomorrow as scheduled. Please convey the importance of appropriate dress for the extreme conditions. Welcome back - and have a tremendous second semester. ~Dr. Brian Maher
