As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his pple both now n 4evermore.Psalm 125:12 As pple, we begin ur lifes journey in the safety of ur mothers womb. There, we r provided n protectd 4rm the outside world. Its in this safe environmnt that a vulnerable, tiny fetus can grow into a baby able 2 live on its own. once we r born, we leave the haven of ur mothers womb, bt we can enter in2 a new 1. We can stay, if we choose, withn the shelter of ur lovng God. Like the pillars of clouds surroundng the children of Israel in the desert, Gods protection n love is available 2 us @ all times. If u look @ a map of the Middle East, the realty is intimidatng. The tiny country of Israel is surrounded by hostile enemies on all sides, xcpt for 1 where she is bordered by the sea. The Arab world is 800x larger than Israel. Indeed she is outnumbered... Bt there is another reality surroundng Israel, n in particular, her capital Jerusalem which is completely surroundd by. mountains. Like the petals of a rose, Jerusalem is surrounded by beaut,grace n protection. In Psalm 125 we learn that this physical structure is an example od our spiritual reality. The psalmist writes: As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his pple bth now and 4 evermore. The mountains around Jerusalem symbolize Gods protection that exists all around us. Jst as the mountains provide a physical barrier between Jerusalem and invading forces, so 2 does God serve as a barrier between the righteous and their enemies. G8er than the Iron Dome designed to protect Israel from missiles, God is Israels shield, nw n 4ever. But who is worthy of such protection?......Those who trust in the LORD r like Mt Zion which cant b shaken bt endures 4ever. Those who ave faith will b protectd, n they will endure. Friends, there r always 2 ways that we can c ur reality. We can c the challenges that surround us, or the grace that envelopes us. Yes, there is evil n difficulty in ur world, bt there is also Gods protection. God is ur refuge, a haven, a womb. Wen we ave faith in Gods protection, then everythng else surrounding us becomes irrelevant. As the saying goes, Dont tell God how big ur storm is; tell ur storm how big ur God is. Bcz when we focus on the grace that surrounds us, that is all we will experience and all that we will c....
