Suspense. I’m watching “Jaws” and studying how director Steven Spielberg “knows what scares us.” I know the story inside- out, and it still makes me cringe. Two-hours and five minutes of on-the-edge-of-your-seat terror. Funny—it’s sort of how it felt to sit and wait for Steve to come out of surgery. Or waiting for the phone to ring with his CT scan results. Or hearing what the long-term effects of a procedure might be. It took being a caregiver to discover the really scary things in life. - Adrienne
