“Suspicious Persons” Call Results in Pursuit, Arrests for Burglary On Wednesday , January 8, 2015 at approximately 10:15am the Pearland Police Department received a call regarding a suspicious male who had made contact with a resident in the 8400 block of Nahas Court and asked for a person who did not live there. That call led to a multi-agency, approximately 50 mile long pursuit that resulted in three suspects being taken into custody for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity – Burglary of a Habitation. The arrested subjects were Cory Eugene Tauton Jr. (29 years of age), John Durann Turner (33 years of age), and a juvenile subject. Tauton, the driver of the Dodge minivan used during the offense, was also charged with Evading Arrest Using Vehicle. During the pursuit, other Pearland Police officers checked the neighborhood and discovered that a residence in the 3200 block of Princess Bay Court had been burglarized. Items recovered from the minivan used by the suspects was linked to that burglary. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center. Tauton was transported to the Pearland Jail. Although Turner was evaluated at a hospital, he was transported to the Pearland Jail shortly before 5:00pm.
