TALKING FOOTBALL WITH BABATEE ON FRIDAY As the Bible states that My people are perishing for lack of knowledge ,I was not surprised by many Caps United sympathisers who blamed the referee for poor officiating yesterday,after giving 8 Caps United players yellow cards. What made me write this article,is the reaction by some journalists whom we think are professional to the game,but only to find out that a lot has to be done to remove that dull mindness. In response to H-Metros Chipo Sabeta article which she wrote after Caps-Hwange tie,i gathered a little information to share with my little sister so that she,can become an unbiased journalist, And to other people its good for the future of the game that people may understand some rules of the game. YELLOW CARD: A yellow card is awarded for the following actions-- *Unsporting behavior *Showing dissent by word or action *Persistently infringes on the Laws of the Game *Delays the restart of play *Failure to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner kick or free kick *Enters or re-enters the field of play without the referees permission *Deliberately leaves the field of play without the referees permission. A change in 2004 to the Laws of the Game championed by FIFA President Sepp Blatter mandated automatic yellow cards for players who remove their shirts while celebrating goals, as he considered this to be unsporting behavior. In addition, an instruction has been in the additional instructions at the end of the Laws of the Game for some time that should a player jump over or climb on to a perimeter fence to the Field of Play, they should be cautioned for unsportsmanlike behaviour. This was seen as mainly preventing incidents in professional football matches where crowds had rushed towards players and had led to injuries. So, looking on yesterdays game those 8 player were cautioned and the referee was spot on,If he could have left those players uncautioned,then we should be talking of match fixing from the referee. These players 1...Deliberately left the field of play without the referees permission. 2.... They climbed the perimeter fence. They were cautioned for unsportsmanship behavior.Its good not to rush into conclusion before we have a full understanding of the rules of the game.
