TAPAL CC LIFT AKG T20 TITLE KARACHI (Sport Reporter) Tapal CC held their nerves before securing a thrilling one-run victory over Touchme Eleven to clinch the 26th Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan T20 Cup at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground here on other day . In a game was reduced to a 15-over per side affair, Tapal CC made 101 all out before restricting Touchme Eleven to 100-8 with Man-of-the-Match Shiraz Ali trapping Shahid Khan LBW on the last ball of the final over. The reason behind the delayed start was the objection raised by a Touchme Eleven team official on the inclusion of Anwar Ali in the Tapal CC side. Finally, sanity prevailed and Anwar was allowed to play as a guest player. Batting first after skipper Mohammad Javed won the toss, Tapal CC struggled to reach a big total as none of their batsmen could break the shackles against an all-spin bowling attack. Opener Yasir Mushtaq was the top scorer with a 15-ball 23 that included two fours and one six. Shaharyar Ghani (16), Anwar Ali (16), Sarfraz Ahmed (14) and Ahmed Iqbal (12 not out) were the other Tapal CC batsmen to get into double figures. The wickets were evenly shared by Shahid Khan, Shahzaib Ahmed Khan, Sohaib Khan and Tauheed Khan. Touchme Eleven’s batting heroes were Shahid Khan (44 off 32 balls, three sixes) and Haris Ali Khan (34 off 31, three fours and one six) who shared a third-wicket partnership of 57 and were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Atif Maqbool grabbed three wickets for 22 runs, while fellow off-spinner Shiraz took two for 17. Col Nayyar Abbas, deputy director of ISPR, graced the final as the chief guest and distributed the prizes along with Col. Zaheer, Chairman AKG Hakim Ali Khan, Secretary Abdul Khaliq Pasnani, Member finance AKG Al-Amin Turyani, Director Marketing Advance Telecome Rehan Sheikh, Chairman (AKYSB) Mukhi Shamiz, Chief Orgnizer Zulfiqar P.Khan., Amin Marchant Tapal, Asif Azeem KCCA Zone III,. The winners’ trophy and Rs200,000 were received by Tapal CC captain Mohammad Javed, the runners-up and Rs100,000 by Touchme Eleven skipper Khalid Latif. Khurram Manzoor, captain of Royal CC, was declared the player of the tournament for scoring 295 runs, his team-mate Shahzaib Hasan best batsman (218 runs), best bowler Mohammad Azhar of Advance Telecom (14 wickets), best fielder Umar Khan of Touchme Eleven (11 catches) and Mohammad. Waqas of Touchme Eleven best wicket-keeper (11 dismissals, including eight catches). Also present on the occasion among a hosts of dignitaries were chief organiser of the tournament Zulfiqar P. Khan and media coordinator Mohammad Nizam.
