FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL NORTHERN RIVER BASINS AND THE HUON RIVER Issued at 4:02 pm EST on Sunday 11 August 2013 By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart Initial Flood Watch for all Northern river basins and the Huon River. A cold front is expected to reach the west coast late Sunday and then cross the remainder of the state early on Monday. The front will bring moderate to heavy rainfalls for the next 24 hours ranging from 20 to 40mm over the northern river basins and totals of 25 to 50 mm over the Huon River catchment. The Northern River basins and the Huon river catchment are still saturated from recent rain. The forecast rainfall will cause stream and river rises with the potential for minor flooding to develop Monday in the Huon River catchment and along streams and rivers in the Northern river basins. Catchment specific warnings will issued as required. Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard where river and stream levels are high over the next few days. Remaining fine about the east coast. Monday, rain throughout, easing to showers and contracting to the west and far south during the morning. Rain redeveloping about the north and west during Monday evening. Snowfalls above 500 metres during the afternoon and evening.
