TBM TRUMPET CALL 2014-03-21 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:” ~ PHILIPPIANS 2:5 THE MIND OF CHRIST Jesus Christ had a one track mind – the strait and narrow; to do God’s will {John 5:30}, and that is the mind of Christ. But how can we have this mind? By following His example. Unity happens when we all agree that the mind of Christ is possible because we are like-minded {Philippians 2:2}, single or same minded {1 Corinthians 1:10}. The writer of the epistle to the Hebrews tried to address lots misconceptions about the New Covenant. The Hebrew Christians wanted to continue the old rituals and ways but trusted God to receive the benefits of the New Covenant. They wondered why they were poor and lacked progress. They had no clue about the economy of God that dispenses God into man. It was no doubt a problem to try to get God to agree with what is not true. May we in this generation never have to repeat this debacle. This is principally why it appears as if Christianity is not working. Power is short-circuited when religion rears its head. Apostle Paul was reputed to be seriously despised because he was considered divisive for not agreeing with the old ways which Jesus Christ the Mediator of the New Covenant had done away with {Hebrews 8:13}. We have the best time and options with serious possibilities to advance God’s kingdom. But unity will consist of believing core values and doctrines with convergent interpretations but which may come with divergent applications. This means we may say the same things differently which is how God designed it. All the epistles and Scriptures were written by different authors with different styles of writing but with no contradictions because of the source of its inspiration {2 Timothy 3:16}. Because we truly desire unity and the power that comes with it, seeking (a New Covenant prerequisite) like-mindedness is crucial. We have a part to play. We can only be like-minded when we agree that it is not love to desire to remain half in the Old Covenant and half in the New and then expect God to bless it with the double portion we know God desires to release upon His people. History will repeat itself when we refuse to deal with obvious avoidable issues. Also to expect someone to agree with what he knows is not true and call it love will constitute an abuse or affront to the Spirit of grace {Hebrews 10:29}. This was specifically what the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews tried to address amongst other things. The issues are not new; we however have choices to make. We must understand that like-mindedness and unity is possible when we believe the same things and are in the same judgment – interpretations {1 Corinthians 1:10}. Jesus’ definition of love is obedience {John 14:23}. Let’s all spur each other up in this direction. We are also enjoined to remember always the that body of Christ is a family with Jesus as its head. Where the head goes the body is supposed to go. And it is written; “But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountain, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His, and we will walk in His path: for the law shall go forth of Zion and the word of LORD from Jerusalem.” {Micah 4:1-2} Let’s prepare for this harvest, Amen. Have a wonderful weekend.
