TEANECK NEW THEATRE CASTING THE SPITFIRE GRILL! The Spitfire Grill, a musical drama, with music & book by James Valcq, lyrics & book by Fred Alley. DIRECTOR: GREG LIOSI WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 26, and Wednesday, Aug. 27, 7:00-9:30. Callbacks Thursday, Aug. 28. WHERE: The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, 39 Broadway, Hackensack. PERFORMANCES: Oct. 31-Nov. 16 at HCAC. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM; Sundays at 3:00 PM. It is not necessary to prepare an audition song. Everyone will be taught a few bars from a song in the show, and will read from sides. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN PERCY TALBOTT – early 20s. Pretty, a bit rough-edged, face shows youthful strength and sadness beyond her years. Accent has a southern Appalachian cadence. Strong folk/country belt, some head voice. HANNAH FERGUSON – about 70. Tough-skinned, flinty old bird with short, no-nonsense manner bordering on the bitter. Mezzo/alto chest range. SHELBY THORPE – mid-30s. Plain, with a shy, almost ethereal manner. Shimmering folk soprano with strong high belt. CALEB THORPE ­– early 40s. Out-of-work stone quarry foreman. Frustrated working man clinging to the past. Solid folk/rock voice. SHERIFF JOE SUTTER – mid-late 20s. Small-town policeman with appealing intensity and restless nature. Strong folk tenor. EFFY KRAYNECK – 50s. Postmistress and busybody, with sour tongue. Solid singer in mezzo/alto chest range. Carries close harmony. THE VISITOR – mid-40s. Mysterious figure who never speaks. An actor with powerful eyes and a strong sense of his body.
