THAT DRUMMER GUYS TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2014 4.) Devin Townsend Project- Z2 Sky Blue FFO: Progressive Metal, Pop Metal, New Age, Ambient Whats this? A Devin Townsend album that is not in the Top 2 this year? As shocking as it sounds, it happened. Partially because there is 3 other albums I like more. That said, I am in love with this album. I can already feel the hate that will commence after I post this (Id be more shock if there wasnt hate). I dont feel Devin lost his touch nor is running out of ideas. Granted, he is pushing himself hard, but I feel it is paying off. With this half of Z2, Devin and Co. They explore more of the Addicted and Epicloud eras of the band, while also harkening back to Accelerated Evolution at time and leaving some ambient room of Ghost and parts of Ki. Its a fantastic album with poppy, catchy songs that are heavy, if Devin wants to make these kinds of albums, Ziltoid bless him! Devin has never let me down and as much of a fanboy I know I am, I can pinpoint when, if ever, Devin would start to lose it. He hasnt.
