THE GRUESOME ALTERNATIVES The gruesome alternatives to not dying to live as if you wished you had like a tiny green shrunken skull of an apple hanging from a leafless bough of winter wampum as the full moon comes up over the cemetery windfall I considered like a sunset at the dawn of life. If I were ever to fall from the sky like a meteorite with a tumour I was going to make sure I was ripe as an extinction event with a sense of humour. But life’s too dourishly boorishly painfully serious for any sacred clown to laugh at death anymore or make a clean exit out the entrance door. So I come here by myself to jest in earnest with the star flower powers of the windy hours of the early morning when the sun locks itself out and nobody cares what you say about anything because they’re asleep forever and nobody hears it.
