THE NATURE OF GOD: An Introduction Life is all about relationship. Where you are today is a function of the kind of relationship you had yesterday. And where you’ll be tomorrow will be determined by the kind of relationship you’re engaged in today. And the defining factor is the person with whom you have the relationship. Central in the success of any relationship is the quality of knowledge you possess about the kind of person with whom you have a relationship. The more accurate and detailed the knowledge in your possession is, the better and more rewarding the relationship will be. I believe that the most intimate and highest form of relationship any one would ever have is the one between a husband and his wife. Any marriage would be disastrous if the husband relates with the wife based only on the information he receives occasionally from his brother-in-law. What he needs is a full knowledge of his wife based on first-hand [not second-party or worse, third-party] information that only his wife can give. When knowledge-based bonding is formed, the relationship is bound to flourish and remain strong in the face of anything because it is based on deep-seated trust that has developed in the process of time. Communication and knowledge in any relationship are like water to nature. Communication gives birth to knowledge of the nature of the person with whom you have to deal. Yet, many believers take for granted their knowledge of the nature of God. Where there is no communication, relationship is dead. And where that knowledge is incomplete or wrong, the relationship will be riddled with confusion, hiccups and headed for a probable shipwreck. We need to have complete and full knowledge of the nature of God. It is this knowledge that will determine the kind of relationship we will have with Him. And the kind of relationship we have with Him will determine what flows from Him to us. Hear the revelation Jesus gave to John concerning the church. ‘And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.’ Revelation 21:2. In this revelation, the church is the bride while Jesus is the Bridegroom. The church is not the building where believers meet and worship God. The church is the body of believers that meet in that building. The body of Christ is the bride. As a member of that body, how much do you know about the Bridegroom? Is your knowledge of your Bridegroom only based entirely on what you hear from a second party on Sundays or some day during the week? Or is it first-hand information that comes directly from the Bridegroom? Marriage is a covenant relationship. The covenant is always activated when the union is consummated. Consummation occurs when there is a coming together of two as one. Are you one with Jesus? You need to sit down and assess the state of your covenant relationship with Jesus, whether it is based on hearsay or on revealed knowledge of His true nature that comes directly from Jesus Himself. When we do and the marriage is consummated, every good thing that the covenant provides will begin to flow in our lives. We need to be certain that our relationship with Him is based on the true nature of God as revealed by and through Jesus. What is the true nature of God? Peace: Spread the Word!
