THEN HAVE an ENTER the building procedure, have people on school - TopicsExpress

THEN HAVE an ENTER the building procedure, have people on school premises who are ALWAYS locked and loaded, teach children about safety with guns, hire counselors who are trained teach classes to students concerning mental health, what to look for as potential mental health issues with friends, classmates, etc. Hire trained physiologists to come into the schools and work one to one or with very small groups regarding being bullied, teenage dating and first love issues, disagreements with parents, struggles with social and emotional issues associated with family and school life, etc. decide the best way to REDUCE the population of high schools and middle schools so that teachers have opportunities to interact personally with students even more in class settings, sports settings, club settings, etc. Huge populations in high school and junior high settings make this less likely to happen and do not allow time for teachers to develop better relationships with students, especially the ones who are more introverted or tend to have problems such as discipline issues, insecurities, etc. Things move at a much faster pace and students are exposed too soon to so much more than the growth rate of maturity is ready for at the time. We need more school staff who understand and know how to help. We need staff who can offer guidance as needed and recommend outside intervention if that is deemed a necessity. First and foremost we need to work with parents by offering informative classes on what to expect from their children in this fast paced world, how to guide their children in making good decisions, how to deal with and receive help when things go wrong and students are unable to get back on course. It does not mean that the over loaded school system can fund all of this, but those who have training in fields that belong in the areas mentioned could offer to volunteer their time to teach parentors, mentor students, speak to groups of students, etc. and brainstorm other ways to help these young people. Banning guns to all is NOT the answer; finding and actually carrying through with programs that instruct and provide group or one on one help is more likely to help elevate school shootings. Thank you for allowing me to step on the soapbox once again.
