TO Lemery Batangas THRU : DIRECTOR FOR STUDENTS AFFAIR FROM : LIPA CITY TOURISM COUNCIL LIPA SUBJECT : INVITATION, GUIDELINES AND PAGEANT MECHANICS ON THE SEARCH FOR “MISTER & MISS UNIVERSITY SOUTHERN LUZON BATANGAS 2014” DATE : October 03, 2014 _____________________________________________________________________________________________ In connection with the celebration of FIESTA NG KAPENG BARAKO NG LIPA: REBIRTH AND EVOLUTION the search is on for “Mister & Miss University Southern Luzon Batangas 2014” on October 24, 2014 at the Lipa City Youth & Cultural Center, Lipa City. The following guidelines and pageant mechanics are hereby issued for information and guidance of all concerned: PAGEANT GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS I. RATIONALE The “ Mister & Miss University Southern Luzon Batangas 2014” is a pageant and personality search who will serve as an ambassador of the Tourism of Batangas and different College/University of the province in promoting one of the major products of Batangas which is the kapeng barako. Winners will be trained as our official representative of Batangas in the National Pageant next year in Miss Philippines Earth 2015, Miss Tourism World Philippines, Miss World Philippines to name a few for Female pageant and Mister Earth Philippines, Mister Philippines Inc, Mister World Philippines for the male pageant. In 1887, Lipa was elevated from a municipality to a “villa” by Queen Maria Cristina of Spain because of its accomplishments brought by COFFEE. For a short time in the 1880’s, Lipa was one of the major suppliers of coffee - Worlwide! Because of this Lipa became the richest municipality in the whole archipelago and became the center of commerce and culture. This is a chapter in Lipa’s history we Lipenos are proud of. It is because of these golden beans that Lipa and the Lipenos are what they are today. That memory is like a smoldering fire which can still be blown into a conflagration; The Coffee days can be revived. That’s why we hold an annual coffee festival- FIESTA NG KAPENG BARAKO LIPA: REBIRTH AND EVOLUTION. Our Fiesta ng kapeng barako ng Lipa to be held on October 21-26, 2014 will mark the launch of a 5-year plan to bring back the Barako trees in Lipa by the help of this Students to help us with our advocacy. This will be participated in by representatives from the different College & University in the province of Batangas. The respective School will choose their representatives according to their own set of criteria. The candidates will compete on the following categories. 1. Kapeng Barako Inspired Costume; 2. Swim Wear competition; 3. Casual Wear competition; 4. Formal Wear competition; and 5. Question & Answer Portion. The PRE-PAGEANT NIGHT: Presentation of Candidates will be held on October 19, 2014 at the SM City Lipa and the Pageant and Coronation Night on October 24, 2014, 6pm, Friday at the Lipa City Youth & Cultural Center, Lipa City, Batangas. A. QUALIFICATIONS Each college must field one male candidate for Mister University Southern Luzon Batangas and one female candidate for Miss University Southern Luzon Batangas title, both of which: are bona fide students of the college in any year level; must be single without child/ren; must not be more than 25 year old this year. female candidates must be at least 5’4 in height and male candidates must be at least 5’7 in height. have never won any major title (including 1st and 2nd Runner-up) in any regional, national, or international beauty pageants; will have to secure written endorsement from their respective college deans and signed waiver forms (Endorsement and waiver forms attached). must be able to attend all scheduled activities and rehearsals. B. PAGEANT MECHANICS Each participating College/University will choose their representative according to their own set of criteria. They are required to submit their candidates’ data thru our entry form, half-bust 4r picture, photo copy of school ID and proof of school registration on or before October 10, 2014, 2014 thru email lipacitytourismcouncil@yahoo or visit Museo de Lipa, plaza Independencia, Pres. L. Katigbak st. Lipa City, Batangas. An endorsement of the Head/President/Coordinator of the school is required. Pageant will be a personality contest, where candidates will be required to prepare for and participate in the following portions of the pageant: C. PRE-PAGEANT NIGHT: October 22, 2014 1. Presentation of Candidates – candidates will present themselves and the School being represented. 2. Interview – candidates will pick a number corresponding to a question. They will be given two (2) minutes to answer the question given to them. D. PAGEANT NIGHT: October 24, 2014 1. Swim Wear- In this category candidate will be required to wear the swimwear attire to highlights their physical fitness to satisfy the criteria in which 50% is for Figure, 30% for Beauty and 20% Poise & Bearing. The organizer will be providing the swim wear of the candidates. 2. Casual Wear- in this portion candidates are wearing the casual wear during the production number. And they will be rated according to Poise & Bearing 50%, body moves & Gracefulness 50%. The organizer will be providing the casual wear of the candidates. 3. Evening Wear/ Formal/Gown- candidates must show proper poise and bearing while in their formal wear. They will be rated based on Fitting, Total package & Elegance 50% and Poise & Bearing 50%. The organizer will be providing the evening wear of the candidates. 4. Interview – candidates will pick the name of the Judge. They will be given two (2) minutes to answer the question given to them. 5. after the Formal Competition, special Awards will be handed out. The top Five (5) candidates will be chosen according to these criteria 6. Points Break-down for each portion will be as follows: Question & Answer 25 % Beauty & Personality 25% Pre-Judging Points 20 % Casual Wear 10 % Swim Wear 10 % Formal Wear 10 % TOTAL 100% After all the scores for each portion has been tabulated, the top 5 pairs shall be announced as finalists and they shall move on to the final round of the competition where scores will be back to zero. In the final round, finalist will pick one judge and the chosen judge will be the one to ask the question to the finalist. Questions may come from different sects. The TOP FIVE candidates will be rated based on the final performance on the following criteria. Intelligence 30% Beauty 30% Poise & Personality 20% Total Performance 20% TOTAL 100% 6. the TOP THREE (3) Candidates will be declared as MISTER & MISS UNIVERSITY SOUTHERN LUZON 2014, 1ST RUNNER UP & 2ND RUNNER UP 7. The decision of the Board of Judges is Final and Irrevocable. II. AWARDS & PRIZES The following Special Awards and the corresponding prizes will be given to candidate that tops each category. 1. Best in Kapeng Barako Costume 2. Best in Casual 3. Best in Swimwear 4. Best in Formal Wear 5. Most Photogenic 6. Congeniality Award 7. People’s Choice Award 8. Set of Special Awards Coming from our Sponsors Winners will receive Sash, Certificate and Gift Packs from our sponsors. The Major Awards and Prizes are the following: 1.
