TODAYS FRESH BREAD (COMMUNION IS COVENANT) Luke 22:20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Communion is not just about swallowing bread and wine into our stomachs. Rather, communion is more of an affirmation of a covenant. In taking communion, we identify ourselves with a Covenant which the Bible calls A BETTER COVENANT WITH BETTER PROMISES. One beautiful thing about this Covenant is that, all the promises and blessings in this Covenant is already fulfilled in one person; Jesus Christ. As you identify yourself with this Jesus, you experience all the promises and benefits of this Covenant. I am talking about the NEW COVENANT. The Passover is a shadow of the Communion which we eat. On the night before they left Egypt, God told Moses to tell every household of Israel to kill a lamb each and apply its on their door as the first borns in every house in Egypt was going to die. They were told to boil the flesh of the lamb and eat it that night. As the blood saved them from death, the flesh of the lamb gave them strength that none of them became weak or sickly. God gave this to them as a festival. Annually they celebrated PASSOVER to observe their deliverance from Egypt. Whenever they celebrated the Passover, it reminded them that they had a Covenant with God; what we know as the Old Covenant. It was in one of the celebration of this occasion that Jesus Christ took the Communion with His disciples. As they took it, they knew they were moving from the Old Covenant of the Law into the New Covenant of Grace. Instead of celebrating the Old Covenant, they were celebrating the New Covenant with Christ Jesus. When we eat the Communion, we are not celebrating Passover. Rather, we are identifying ourselves with the NEW COVENANT. To eat the Communion without a knowledge or understanding of the New Covenant, is like receiving a phone and not knowing what it is used for. The truth you dont know cannot set you free. Get to know the New Covenant. As you take the Communion, focus on Christ Jesus and His New Covenant. Embrace the benefits of this Covenant. The body you eat and the blood you drink at COMMUNION is your affirmation of the New Covenant...... Good morning
