TODAY’S WORD: 5th August, 2013 II Corinthians 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. One of the most prominent prayer points we hear children of God pray these days is that of vengeance against their enemies. Looking at the scripture before us today and some other scriptures, you’ll see that God is very ready to deal with anyone that stands as your enemy …Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you (II Thessalonians 1:6). But God wants your obedience to be fulfilled or complete before He avenges for you. sometimes when you say to God `kill all my enemies’, He will just be looking at you knowing in His divine wisdom that if He strikes those enemies of yours and they go down, you may go down with them. This is because in your hand lies some of their properties. Joshua the servant of God went out to destroy their enemies through God’s power but instead of the enemies being destroyed, the children of Israel were destroyed because God saw an accursed thing in their midst. In the book of Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus told His disciples of a parable of the wheat and the tares. A farmer sowed wheat but when the servants came along the following day they saw tares and wheat growing. They wanted to uproot the tares but the masters said …But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn (Matthew 13:29-30). By implication the master said the wheat is not different from the tares yet, let the wheat mature first so that we won’t uproot the wheat together with the tares. God wants to avenge you of your enemies but you are still doing the same things the so called enemies do. Today, dare to be different and see God fight on your behalf. Have a blessed week.
