TOO LATE MR GOVERNOR, OGUN ELECTORATES CAN’T BE FOOLED - TopicsExpress

TOO LATE MR GOVERNOR, OGUN ELECTORATES CAN’T BE FOOLED AGAIN Abraham Lincoln in one of his wise submissions once said “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”. The above quote aptly describes the present scenario in our dear State when our CEO suddenly realized albeit too late that he is on the way out of government house and begins to “roll out” but our people are wiser because a Leopard can never change its spot. It is a known fact that over 80% of electoral promises made by governor Amosun till date are yet to be fulfilled and without mincing words, they will not be fulfilled because: 1. Most of the promises were made in bad faith, 2. Time is no longer on the side of the regime and 3. Paucity of fund is very obvious and the already humongous debt must not be increased by even #1,000 again. As a matter of fact, all the latest panicky incentives promised the civil servants by mr governor are no favour but their right. However, does the past disdain of our governor towards them correlate with his present deceptions? Can the Civil Servants that have tasted one or more past governments forget easily the unbearable and regrettable policies of the last three years? Can the Civil Servants that got their 2012 promotion exercise approved in the third quarter of 2013 with commensurate payment effected from October 2013 (16 months of arrears cut off) be happy? 2013 promotion exercise for our Teachers and Local government Staff is still a dream in July, 2014! The grassroot in the last three years have suffered in a most unprecedented manner owing to the “special” interest of mr governor to urbanise our cities albeit in a lopsided way, unjustifiable and yet to be defended outrageous cost and worst still in a disappointing unplanned mode that has either left many people worst off without adequate or no compensation OR sent some to untimely grave. The elected Councilor have been dying in silence over abuses they get daily from the electorates because they live among them without any performance to justify their elections; Mr governor want to appease the disappointed councilors with cars and furniture allowance now and we are watching. Mr Governor, among your legion of promises are just a few below (I have picked education for this) : · “Education is now free in both primary and secondary schools” but Several alternative fees have being introduced at Primary and secondary school level to replace school fees over the last three years · “All illegal fees and levies in both primary and secondary schools are hereby abolished. Any reported violation of this order will be appropriately sanctioned” but N5,000 transfer fee is now being collected for pupils moving from one school to the other within the State among other illegal fees · “Tuition fees will be reduced by 50% in all the state’s tertiary institutions” but TASUED tuition fee of 53,750 is now 88,750 with Acceptance fee of 30,000; MAPOLY Old tuition fee 44,800 is now 62,300 with Acceptance fee of 25,500 while OOU Old tuition fee of 82,000 for ART&SOCS is now 140,000/150,000 with Acceptance fee of 35,000; OOU Law Students now pay 172,000 and MEDICINE 250,000 PHARMACY 205,000.TASCE OMU Old tuition fee of 32,700 is now 40,850 with Acceptance fee of 11,000 etc All these increments were done without any infrastructural intervention in those institutions; Hostel that was being built by the last government in OOU remains the same since 2011; Salaries, Allowances etc of Academic and non-academic staff are usual issues of thug of war with government since 2011, TASUED has ever been on its own, etc · Where are the “Three state-of-the-art and well-stocked public libraries will be established with one in each senatorial district”? · Where are the “Model Schools”? Hope our Students have resumed therein since 2013 you openly promised so! These are just a few within one sector out of over ten sectors/MDAs like health, Agric, Environment etc AND all have legions of promises made, promises failed courtesy of mr governor. One can go on and on and on…. Conclusion Today July 1, 2014 makes it exactly 37 months that Governor Amosun has spent in Office and HE HAS FAILED WOEFULLY in the core areas of governance, what miracle can he perform to turn the table within the remaining 7 MONTHS left before next election is conducted in the face of PAUCITY OF FUND AND HUGE DEBT? AMOSUN MUST DEFINITELY GO COMPULSORILY for Our State to prosper again
