TUESDAY, 19TH AUGUST WARNING IN A DREAM “And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad”. Gen 31:24 Sometimes it is a wonder how some people see God. Their perception of Him makes one wonder if they know Him at all. Many are those who have not taken the pains to know God for themselves and only rely on that which others say. Therefore if any blames God for a setback or a mishap; they tend to think that that must be the nature of God. But the Bible does not portray God as evil at all. As a matter of fact He is a good God who only takes delight in giving His best to His loved ones. This He does with passion such that you wouldn’t want to be in His bad books. The text above shows how God protects His own with jealousy. Jacob, a custodian of the Abrahamic bless-ing, had been living with his uncle Laban for over twenty years. In that period, he had suffered a lot of unjust treat-ment from his uncle on several occasions but God had turned every unjust treatment to his advantage. He decided to flee from Laban his uncle and return to the land of his nativity without informing him. When Laban got to know of his departure, he was so angry that he thought to do Jacob harm. It was on the night before he embarked on his journey in pursuit of Jacob that God visited him. The visit of God to Laban was not to bless him as He always does but to warn him against any malicious intent he might have against His beloved Jacob. What a joy it is to know that God can go to the extent of entering into people’s dreams to warn them for the sake of His belov-ed. Jacob was spared of any evil by reason of the warning God gave Laban in a dream. This means that God can warn the boss who wants to sack you, the lady who wants to break your home and that thief who wants to steal from you. May the Great God of glory who is always mindful of His people do so for you and make you enjoy victory always in Jesus name. Shalom! Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word to me.
