Tashs Tip of the Week ~ Well Norfolk, it’s running season! I got out for my first outdoor run this year, and it felt great! So, I wanted to share with you my smoothie recipe for post workout (but, this recipe would be awesome for a breakfast smoothie too!) -6 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk -A handful of fresh (or frozen) spinach – I guarantee you will not taste spinach in a smoothie!!! (great way to get extra greens….and hide greens for picky eaters!) -4-5 pieces of frozen pineapple -1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder (I finally found organic, true cinnamon! So, we carry it at all of the Roulstons!) -scoop of vanilla whey protein powder (like my amazing New Zealand protein by Kaizen for $31.69 for a big jug!!) You can add a couple more ice cubes to make it a bit more slushy if you want and as I was drinking it, I thought that a few cacao nibs (raw chocolate beans) or a few organic coffee beans would have been a nice addition for some texture! Blend and enjoy! The protein will build that core muscle that you just worked so hard for (the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism with run!), the cinnamon has amazing blood sugar regulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, the spinach is just good for you and will help to replace/provide great minerals and the pineapple is a great source of natural sugar to replace the glycogen stores in your muscle and liver and the pineapple contains a digestive enzyme that will help with cellulite removal! If you add cacao nibs this will add a great source of magnesium to prevent any muscle cramping! Enjoy the weather Norfolk!
