Taxi companies are among groups challenging Uber and Lyft car services in Cincinnati. Maybe if taxi companies modernized and had mobile apps and geo-locating options instead of horrible, gruff telephone dispatching, along with decent cars, people would not be so happy to seek a clean, modern alternative. Gotta love how a utility that chooses a stagnant, outdated business model has the nerve to ask for protection from competition. As long as a rideshare driver is properly insured and has a valid drivers license, s/he is basically an independent contractor in a private arrangement. S/he should be aware of the risk being assumed, but aside from that, I can imagine its far superior to the lackluster taxi service in Cincinnati.
