Responsible for monitoring standards of care delivered by qualified and unqualified support staff by observation and direct involvement, ensuring that all service users receive quality medical and personal care and that care plans are fully maintained. To ensure that all messages and communication is passed on in appropriate fashion either in a written format or verbally. To adhere and be familiar with the Care Quality Commission guidelines. To support the Manager in the implementation of all policies, procedures and business objectives. To become knowledgeable and competent in managing the Home. Prepare the staff duty rota to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times. Appraise staff. Positively influence the reputation of the home - communicating professionally and warmly with visitors including family, friends and other external stakeholders. Play an active role in ensuring compliance within the home – managing the implementation of company policies and regulatory requirements; striving to achieve the best possible care rating and other external recognition of quality. Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act. Demonstrates a working knowledge of COSHH assessments. Maintain clinical excellence – role models high standards of care, ensuring legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines are followed. Support the financial effectiveness of the home – ensure the home operates within budget through effective use of resources and identify areas to improve efficiency. Take on an active leadership role – you will need to be a visible leader in the home supporting the operation of a twenty four hour business. Developing your people – oversee the induction of all new employees and participate in the training development of the team. Instruction of all staff in safe systems of work, fire safety and evacuation procedures, and induction of new staff. Responsible for monitoring the state of wellbeing of service user , being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met and written records are amended to reflect any variation. Act as a focal point for contact with service users, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon and concerns or complaints are promptly investigated and dealt with appropriately. Liase with the Home Manager across the range of operational activity to be able to assume responsibility for managing the Home during the manager’s scheduled and unscheduled absences. Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling of residents, by assessing risks and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff. Act courteously towards service users and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensure effective communication is maintained. Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly. Advice on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods. Attend all relevant staff meetings and organise staff meetings by preparing an agenda with the team. Personal Specification Exude enthusiasm, commitment and energy.
